








Welcome to
the Johann Strauss Society of New York, a non-profit organization dedicated to
the preservation and appreciation of music written by Johann Strauss, Jr.
(1825–1899), other members of the Strauss family from Vienna, and their contemporaries.
Among
other activities, the Society conducts research of historical events in the life
of the Strauss family, particularly those with an American connection.
These
include Johann Strauss’ 1872 visit to
Boston
and New York, and the 1890 and 1900–01 concert
tours of the United States
and
Canada
by Eduard Strauss and the Strauss Orchestra. The findings of this ongoing effort
are posted on this site. All original contents are copyrighted but may be freely
cited if explicit attribution is made to the Johann Strauss Society of
New York.
The Society considers its efforts
complementary to those of other organizations around the world with similar
objectives, including but not limited to the following:

Johann Strauss Societies also exist in the
Czech
Republic,
France,
Romania, and the
United States.
The
Johann Strauss Society of New York is located near
Lincoln
Center for the Performing Arts in
